The IBT program in Maharashtra is implemented in Uttar Pradesh as LBD program. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to implement LBD program, based on New Education Policy (NEP) – 2020.

Objectives

  • To introduce students to different skills, thereby developing capability to act.
  • To implement ‘Learning while doing’ methodology in the education system. Thereby changing ‘Book centred education’ towards ‘work centred education’.
  • Linking school education/curricular subjects to day to day activities and make education meaningful.
  • To demonstrate use of appropriate technologies to the community through school.
  • To provide various services to the community through school.

Strategy

  • Focus on school children 6th to 8th and 9th to10th
  • Training will be given based on methodology of ‘Learning while doing, in real life situations’.
  • As a part of training, students will be given training in various rural technologies. Focus will be given on need based service requirements.

The four sections of LBD are

Agriculture - Animal Husbandry

Energy - Environment

Food Processing

Engineering

LBD program is implemented in 60 municipal schools of Uttar Pradesh across 15 districts.
